British Airways (BA) and Iberia have revealed that they plan to acquire 12 airlines once they have merged.

Willie Walsh, the CEO from British Airways has reportedly said that the airlines would be put in together under a name of the International Airlines Group (IAG). This is the name of the company that was formed when the BA and Iberia merged.

Although Mr Walsh has not yet named the airlines that he hopes to acquire, they are thought to be low-cost airline AirAsia, as well as other airlines such as Qantas and Finnair.

However, Mr Walsh did say that he is keen to take on full mergers or acquisitions, rather than take on smaller investments in airlines. He also noted that not all the airlines on the list may be pursued.
