A new report released by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development(CIPD) has shown that while many organisations plan for the coming one to two years, only a fifth plan for less than a year in advance.
The survey revealed that 41 per cent of businesses plan for the coming years, but only 20 per cent plan for less than one year in advance.
The report was completed after in-depth interviews with numerous organisations of various sizes and CIPD is calling for Human Resources to prevent risk by taking a bigger part in scenario planning.
Angela Baron, engagement adviser for CIPD said: “Workforce planning provides the basis for better decision-making to meet the future needs of the business in terms of its people resource. While some organisations have these processes in place, for many there is still a ‘knowing-doing’ gap when it comes to workforce planning.”
