Sandra Reese, a principal in Grant Thornton’s Corporate Advisory and Restructuring Services (CARS) group, has been recognised as one of the Most Powerful and Influential Women of Illinois.

The accolade came from the National Diversity Council, a non-profit organisation championing diversity as a business imperative.

Ms Reese was recognized for her leadership excellence at the 2011 Illinois Women’s Conference on Thursday 24 March at the Allerton Hotel in Chicago.

She was honored for excelling as a principal and co-leader of the CARS practice in Chicago.

“We are very proud of Sandy’s accomplishments, contribution and commitment to excellence in providing our clients with the highest quality of service, as reflected by this prestigious award,” said Mark Toney, national managing principal of Grant Thornton LLP’s Corporate Advisory and Restructuring Services group.

Recognised and respected as an influential business leader in Chicago, Ms Reese serves as a member of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, the Turnaround Management Association, the American Bankruptcy Institute, the International Women’s Forum and the Economic Club of Chicago.

Nominees for the Most Powerful and Influential Women of Illinois are assessed in terms of a sustained record of accomplishment, contributions to the field of work over a career, high ethical standards, commitment to community well being, and overall quality of leadership.
